With the changing of the leaves and the seasons also comes gorgeous weather, and a great way to spend any Saturday or Sunday would be in Loudoun County, Virginia.
As we all know, the notable Wine Country in Northern Virginia is starting to gain momentum in popularity. The climate of the area is perfect to cultivate the perfect crisp white wine, and the scenery is even better!
My group decided to visit Sunset Hills Vineyard in Purcellville, about an hour from Washington, D.C. on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon around 2:00 pm.
Upon arrival, there were rolling hills, charming country structures, and of course, grapevines. On the grounds of Sunset Hills sits a pavilion as well as scattered tables covered with umbrellas. We were able to claim our picnicking spot almost instantly.
We put our supplies down and decided to go inside the main barn to partake in a wine tasting. After all, this is what we came here to do!
Sunset Hills offers a variety of individual and group tastings. The individual tastings are $10.00 each and with that, you are able to try six different wines they have available. Our group purchased a few bottles of wine and took them back to our picnic spot, and enjoyed the weather, scenery & live music.
Sunset Hills Vineyard is also very family-friendly. They offer a Light Fare food menu, and every Saturday and Sunday in October, there is live music from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm. For more general information, the live music schedule, and fall events, please visit their website.
