Festival season has arrived! The DMV has tons of great festivals, fairs and events over the summer for people of all interests—food and drink, literature, arts and crafts, music, and anything else you can think of!

With all the happenings, it’s hard to keep track… so we’ve done the research for you!

Since the season boasts so many events, we are starting with May and will continue posts throughout the summer months…

Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tours

The Gaithersburg Book Festival is a literary festival where authors of both national and local acclaim address and interact with readers at a free all-day, outdoor event. The event has a wide range of topics including children’s books, memoirs, fiction, non-fiction, historical novels, and much more.

The Fiesta Asia is a street fair celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The event showcases Asian art and culture with live performances by musicians, vocalists and performance artists, Pan-Asian cuisine, martial arts and lion dance demonstration, a multicultural marketplace, cultural displays and interactive activities.

The NoVA Fine Arts Festival brings artists and art lovers together on the streets of Reston Town Center to enjoy a wide range of art including hand crafted, one of a kind artwork, contemporary and original performances, artist demonstrations, acclaimed children’s activities, and live music.

Wine In The Woods has been a staple in Howard County for more than 20 years. The two-day festival showcases Maryland wines, artisans, specialty foods, wine education, and live music.

Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival

An annual tradition held at Sandy Point State Park, this two-day festival features a line-up of some of the best local and national blues musicians, a craft village, variety of food and drink, beer & wine, alongside beach views.

A day long festival of cycling held in Patterson Park in which amateurs and professionals compete for cash prizes. The festival also includes live music, food vendors, and activities for kids.

Hometown Holidays Music Fest

Hometown Holidays is Rockville’s annual street featuring dozens of entertainers performing on seven stages, children’s rides, teen activities, VisArts Fine Arts Festival, an environmental expo, the Taste of Rockville, and the Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.

Herndon Festival

The Herndon Festival features live entertainment, international foods, carnival rides and games, children’s entertainment, a business expos, races, a Fitness expo, model railway exhibit, an arts and crafts show and two fireworks displays. The event is the largest FREE festival in Northern Virginia!

Maryland Craft Beer Festival

The Maryland Craft Beer Festival brings together 25 local brewing companies offering samples of more than 175 beers. Festival highlights include access to small-batch beers, one-of-a-kind casks in a family friendly environment with live, local music. Fresh local foods and goods from artisan vendors will be available for purchase.

The Delaplane Strawberry Festival offers two full days of family oriented fun including live entertainment, children’s games, pony rides and hayrides, a petting zoo, a fun run, a raptor exhibit, antique cars, tons of food and crafts.
