Looking for great Halloween fun in Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland? Over the next few weeks, celebrate Halloween in the DMV and get spooked with these great events and attractions!

Fright Fest at Six Flags America

Six Flags America brings you Halloween thrills by day and frightening entertainment by night. Daytime activities are family-friendly including a Pumpkin Patch Hay Maze, trick-or-treat trail, Grand Magic Show, costume contest, dance party and much more! When the sun goes down, the ghouls come out, so watch as the park transforms to “Fright by Night.”  Activities include scare zones, thrill rides, haunted attractions and eerie shows, called “Monstertainment.” Park activities after 6pm are not recommended for children under 12 and those who scare easily.

The amusement park features nine mazes, six scare zones and more than 20 thrilling rides. While the attractions of Halloween Haunt bring out the scares at night, families and children will enjoy the all-new Planet Spooky during the day.

Silver Spring Zombie Walk

Walk starts at Silgo & Georgia Aves.
The 2014 Silver Spring Zombie Walk is an annual Halloween party held in various venues around Silver Spring, Maryland. People dress as zombies or zombie hunters for the night and celebrate the zombie phenomenon attached to Halloween.  Bars and restaurants around Silver Spring offer Zombie Walk specials and there is live music performed for all the zombies to dance to. The event concludes at the AFI Silver Theatre for a special screening of Dead Snow 2.

Halloween Hustle 5K

The 1k Fun Run/Walk Starts at 8:30am and the 5k Race Starts at 9:00am. Stick around after the race for the “I Survived the Halloween Hustle” awards ceremony and festivities including trick-or-treating, a moon bounce, music, and more. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Entry fees range from $10-$35.

Anthem Wicked 10K and Monster Mile

Goblin Gallop

Come ready to run and in costume for the 21st annual Goblin Gallop. The 1k Fun Run begins at 8:30am and the 5k Run/Walk begins at 9:00am. All proceeds go to the John Quadrino Foundation to Benefit Children with Cancer.

Visitors and members of all ages are invited to have a thrilling good time for creepy chemistry and mysterious scientific activities and demonstrations. Make gooey, glowing slime, decorate pumpkins, receive trick-or-treat bags, play mummy bowling, and explore mysterious boxes filled with eerie items. Don’t miss Reptiles Alive! at 1pm and 3pm. All activities are free with museum admission.

Air & Scare at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

Join creepy space aliens, mysterious astronauts and ghostly pilots for safe, indoor trick-or-treating. Visitors will enjoy story times and dress-up in the Tot Zone, creepy crafts, spooky science experiments, and other Halloween-themed activities Pose for a photo with your favorite characters from Star Wars or Ghostbusters. Parking is $15 until 6pm.

Halloween Whodunit at the Kennedy Center

NSO musicians dress up as ghosts, ghouls, and goblins for a “spirited” performance. Come early dressed in your spookiest costume for pre-concert trick-or-treating and a special Haunted Hall Musical Instrument “Petting Zoo.” For ages 5 and up. Tickets range from $16-$18. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Performance runs about 60 minutes with no intermission.

Bennett’s Curse

Step inside Castle Bennett and brace yourself for what you’ll find inside. Three terrifying attractions include Medieval Underworld, Inferno 3D and the Sanctuary of Insanity. Celebrating its last season at Blob’s Park, this attraction is recognized by Travel Channel’s Top 10 Best Haunted Houses in the country. Bennett’s Curse is an assault to the senses, packing more film quality props, sets, characters, unique theming and an over the top collection of more giant monsters than any other attraction around. Attractions are open every Thursday through Sunday until November 1st; times vary.

Legends of the Fog

Legends of the Fog is not just one of Maryland’s Best Haunted Attractions, it is a great experience. After completing all three haunts – Haunted Hayride, Sinister Circus and Carsins Manor – stick around and play some of their midway games or grab a bite to eat from Looney’s! Attractions are open every Friday through Sunday ending November 1st and on select Thursdays. Times and pricing vary.

Fright at the Museum: Dead Men Walking
