Let’s Cruise
Posted on June 24, 2010

Summer has officially arrived!  It is the best time of year because there are so many fun activities to take advantage of in this area.  Let’s explore a few different outdoor options that will help kick off your Summer right!

It was this past Sunday when I was invited to a birthday party that was going on a water ride from Georgetown waterfront to Alexandria and then to National Harbor.  It was planned through the Potomac River Boat Company.  They have all different types of boats and packages that are available!  I was able to sip on a cold beer while enjoying the scenic tour of wildlife, Washington D.C.’s monuments, and beautiful sunset.  Depending on what you are looking for there is a boat to fit your every need.

It is a perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening with friends, family or coworkers.  There are so many beautiful things surrounding us that we do not have time to go see and this is the perfect way to capture them together.

I took the picture above at National Harbor.  You must experience this place if you have not yet.  Take the day or even make a weekend out of it.  It is so amazing that you will never want to leave!

Looking for a little bit of an extra adventure?  Kayaking anyone?  This is a great way to become hands on with the water!  I believe this is the best way to spend the weekend and enjoy the warm sunshine.

I recommend checking out the below places when you are ready to paddle!

Jacks Boathouse
Jacks rents kayaks and rowboats right in Georgetown where you can paddle along the Potomac River. Basic instruction is available. The facility is located under the Key Bridge at 3500 K. St, NW Washington, DC.

Fletcher’s Boathouse
Check out this bike and boat rental facility located on the Potomac River and the C & O Canal National Historical Park, between Chain and Key Bridges just minutes from downtown Washington, DC. The area is ideal for bicycling, boating, fishing, and picnicking. The concessionaire rents kayaks, canoes, rowboats and bicycles.

I hope to see you on the water!
