Living in the DMV region, there is no shortage of fun things to do around the holidays. Between skating rinks, Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, and holiday markets you are sure to find something to please the entire family. Check out some of these unique events to mix it up this year!

December 24th, 1pm
This 30-year old tradition started in 1986 when someone lost a bet and had water ski across the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront – and has been making an appearance every year since. Now this family event also includes a visit with Santa and other characters after the show at the Torpedo Factory.
Jingle on Lake Anne
December 6th, 11:00am-2:00pm
Santa arrives on a lake barge to this event which includes a petting zoo, music, wine tastings, merchant specials, children’s crafts, cookie decorating, holiday arts & crafts market, holiday entertainment and much more!
December 2nd-January 1st, 6-10pm nightly
This 3rd annual interactive exhibit is the region’s only curated exhibition of outdoor public light art installations. Meander around the twinkling lights set against the backdrop of this historic DC neighborhood.
November 24th – January 2nd, 10am-5pm
The DC Botanic Gardens celebrates the holiday season with their annual display of exotic florals, poinsettias, one of the largest indoor trees, and model train show. This year the display celebrates the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, with exhibits recreating iconic national parks and historic sites.
December 17th, 3-5pm
In its 32nd year, this yearly event celebrates the holidays and tuba enthusiasts with worldwide events and concerts. Over 100 festively dressed tuba players will entertain crowds at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor as well as several other locations in Maryland.
The 39th Annual Festival of Lights
December 1st-January 1st, 10am-10pm
The temple grounds glow with over 650,000 twinkling lights and nightly musical performances.
