Run to Renn Fest!
Posted on October 01, 2013

With fall festivals starting, one festival always goes to the top of our social list, the Maryland Renaissance Festival! It’s the perfect festival to kick off fall and have fun with your friends and family.

This year makes the 33rd year of the festival and it’s more fun than ever. From the time you park and get your tickets, you’re transported to a time of festive fun and a little debauchery.

blog 1To fully engage in the fun that is the renaissance festival we strongly encourage anyone who attends to dress up! You can bring your own costume or rent one when you arrive.

There are so many unique characters in attendance that you won’t feel out of place for dressing up. And at this festival, anything goes!

The second best tip when planning to attend is to arrive hungry! They have a wide assortment of fair foods that you won’t want to miss.

From pork chops on a stick and turkey legs to chocolate dipped bananas and milk and cookies, there is something for everyone. Our personal favorites are the fried green beans with coconut curry dipping sauce, Belgian waffles and ribbon fries.

After you’ve had your fill of unique foods, there are plenty of games and activities to participate in. You can learn how to use a bow and arrow or how to use throwing stars. You can even ride an elephant or press you luck with Jacob’s ladder. There are games for adults and kids alike.

blog 4If games aren’t your cup of tea there are tons of shows to take in. You can watch knights joust, learn about different swords at fight school and dance around the maypole.

Or if all else fails, there are plenty of pubs to quince your thirst!

The Festival starts at 10am and ends at 6pm Saturday and Sunday until October 20th.  Adult admission is $22 at the gate, children admission is $10. Group rates are available.
