With summer officially here, that means its time to break out the swim suits and the sun screen and make our way to the water!

We have put together a list of some of the water parks around the area, perfect for a day in the sun.

Water Parks in Virginia

Water Country USA features water rides and attractions, entertainment, shopping and restaurants — all set to a surf theme. The largest family water park in Virginia features water slides, twisting flumes, a lazy river, and a huge Surfer’s Bay with real surfable waves! The 67,000 square foot indoor water park is great wet and wild fun all year round! Featuring twisting tube slides that are both indoor and outdoor, as well as a lazy river, and family flume ride this is surely one the whole family will want to travel to!

This family friendly park features over 30 rides, slides, and attractions including a 1 million-gallon wave pool, and a children’s area. Be sure to stop by on Friday’s for Dive In Movies. Open through September 13th.

Great Waves

This family friendly park features over 20 acres of pools, waterslides, and fun activities! Also on site are a mini golf course and batting cages! Open through Labor Day.

All new Soak City will replace WaterWorks this season and will feature many of the parks most popular water rides as well as brand new ones! Soak City is included with your admission to Kings Dominion. New for this year: A 65 foot tall slide tower named Hurricane Heights which includes Paradise Plunge where the floor drops out from beneath you and Splash Island a new children’s area including slides and jets. The park still encompasses 20 acres of wet and wild fun including a 650,000 gallon wave pool! The world’s tallest enclosed dark tube slide is a highlight of the day, as well as more than 50 other water attractions! Open through Labor Day.

The largest water park in Northern Virginia features five water areas spread out over 13 acres with highlights including a 770-foot Lazy River, two fast slides, a beach area with more than 250 tons of sand, and two 4-story waterslides! Open through Labor Day.

Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole
1400 Lake Fairfax Dr., Reston
Pricing: Adults $14.50 on holidays and weekends, Children $11.25
The Water Mine isn’t just any old-fashioned swimmin’ hole, this one takes you back to the Wild West! The scenery is set with covered wagons, mountain slides and a “Rattlesnake” lazy river. Open through Labor Day.

Gaithersburg’s Water Park at Bohrer Park

Pricing: $12 for holiday & weekend visits, $8 for weekday visits
The Water Park at Bohrer Park recreates a day in the islands with palm trees and floating animals as well as a rain drop umbrella and a double water slide. Open through Labor Day.
