The Nation’s Football Classic is a college football game held annually created to celebrate the passion and tradition of the college football experience, recognize the history of service to others by the students, faculty and alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, highlight the unity of African American culture, and honor the heritage and excellence of these proud institutions.

The Nation’s Triathlon is a prestigious sporting event that includes a scenic course that winds through the National Mall, a 1.5k swim in the Potomac River, 40k bike course through the streets of DC and Maryland, finishing with a 10k run past the city’s historical landmarks. The weekend-long festivities include a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo and a finish line festival featuring a live band. The Nation’s Triathlon benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the world’s largest nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research.

The Alexandria King Street Art Festival transforms the streets of Old Town  into an outdoor art gallery featuring 200 of the nation’s top award-winning artists. The free outdoor art festival will line six blocks of King Street showcasing sculptures, paintings, photography, glass, jewelry and more!

Riverbend16th Annual Virginia Indian Festival

Join in all the fun as Native Americans from the Monacan Nation and the Chickahominy, Mattaponi, Pamunkey, Rappahannock, Tauxenent, and Upper Mattaponi tribes are participating in the event! They will perform traditional drumming and dances, and demonstrations with interactive exhibits.

The annual Fall Festival and Taste of Falls Church is held each September
and features live entertainment, pony rides, amusement rides, crafters,
businesses and civic organizations, and cuisine from City kitchens. The
children’s activity tent offers face painting and craft projects.

Prince Georges County Fair

The Prince George’s County Fair is Maryland’s oldest fair dating back to 1842. The annual family friendly event includes carnival rides, live animals displays, family circus, fireworks, live entertainment, food, arts and crafts, beautiful baby contests, and much more.

The Maryland Seafood Festival is an Annapolis tradition, an event held annually for more than 45 years, featuring The Capital Crab Soup Cook-off, live music performances, craft booths and family activities. Maryland’s top restaurateurs and chefs participate in a weekend festival showcasing the great seafood that the state has to offer while bringing people together from all over the East Coast.

The Silver Spring Jazz Festival features a variety of jazz performances. The performances are held outdoors so bring a blanket and/or beach chair. A wide variety of food will be available to purchase from local restaurants. Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and Tony Award-nominee Branford Marsalis will headline the event!

Takoma Park Folk Festival

The Takoma Park Folk Festival features music and dance from around the world on eight stages. From old-time fiddle and bluegrass to acoustic folk-rock to Afro-Latin fusion, performers range from well-seasoned stage veterans to youngsters on stage for the first time. The festival also includes dance workshops, children’s activities, a crafts show and ethnic food from around the world.
