Kick off your summer in the DMV with BBQ, boats, blues and beyond!

Giant National Capital BBQ Festival

Come taste the best of the best and watch top pit masters from around the country battle it out on the BBQ.  Named “One of Five Can’t Miss Summer Festivals in the Country” by CNN, the National Capital BBQ Festival is now in its 24th year!

Capital Fringe Music Festival

Enjoy free live performances from local bands this weekend for the first-ever Capital Fringe outdoor festival. This weekend will also kick off the month-long Capital Fringe Festival, celebrating independent theatre, music, art and dance.

Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine: Great American Whiskey
One Eight Distilling

Time: Sunday, 1-4pm
Cost: $75, this is a 21+ event

Guests will have the opportunity to sample whiskeys produced by One Eight Distilling, enjoy a private tour of the production facilities and sample paired cuisine from local chefs, regional artisans and purveyors.

Boat Tour of the Susquehanna Flats
Tydings Park Marina

Time: Saturday, 10am & 1:30pm
Cost: $30 per family; $10 per person

Enjoy a relaxing day on the water, as you join the Environment Center for a day of learning and exploration. Step aboard the Miss Nancy pontoon boat and listen to the facts about the native watershed. You will even have the opportunity to get to get off the boat and wade in the water to explore for yourself!

Chesapeake Crab and Beer Festival

Time: Saturday, 11am-3pm & 5-9pm
Cost: $29-$89

Participate in this Maryland tradition! Enjoy all you care to eat crabs and sample over 50 beers, wines, and spirits! Guests will also receive beer mugs, enjoy live music and sit back while relaxing in the shade! Event is entirely tented and will take place rain or shine.

Join runners and walkers of all ages! Challenge one another in the steepest 400-meter foot-race in America as you attempt to work your way up the 600-foot vertical ski run, The Face. Think you have what it takes to compete?

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening of free music in historic Old Town Fairfax every Friday night in the summer. This week features The Reagan Years, the East coast’s original 80s tribute band.
