Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Festival

Nationals Park, DC

Time: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm
Cost: $6 in advance; $8 at the door

In an effort to promote underground art and connect the city with independent artists, this alternative festival aids in the discovery of unconventional, hard-to-find handmade and local gifts. Shop small under the concourse at Nationals Park this weekend, sampling art and the various food and beer vendors that will be onsite.


National Harbor Tree Lighting Ceremony

Get in the holiday spirit this weekend with music, movies, activities, fireworks, and of course, lighting one of DC’s best-loved trees. Then, from 7PM to close, select restaurants at the Harbor offer special discounts or free items when you mention Harbor Holiday Eats while dining.



Maryland Irish Festival

Veterans’ Day Parade

Honor your veterans and active duty military at one of the largest parades in Maryland! A wreath-laying memorial ceremony will follow.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Mount Vernon Recreation Center

For the 16th year in a row, the City of Alexandria Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department as well as “Friends of Rocky Versace” are hosting their Veterans Day Ceremony.  Sixty-seven Alexandrians who died in battle, all MIA soldiers and all veterans who served during the Vietnam War will be honored during this one-hour event.  Come show your support to our fallen and brave.


Lace Up for Learning 5K & Kids Fun Run

Brambleton Town Center

Help the Brambleton community promote healthy living and support local schools.  This is a family-oriented race benefitting Creighton’s Corner, Legacy, Moorefield Stations, Stone Hill and Briar Woods.  The more people who run, the more money that is raised to benefit these schools.


Veterans Ball
Gadsby’s Tavern Museum

Time: Saturday, 8-10pm

Cost: $45.00 per person; Reservations are required.

Enjoy live music, English country dancing, cash bar, and a dessert collation in honor of our Revolutionary War veterans.  Dance the night away in 1780s (military or civilian) or cocktail attire.  Not familiar with the style of dance during that period?  You are encouraged to complete at least one full class in order to become more familiar to the figures and language for the ball.
