Thanksgiving is here! Spend time with family and friends this weekend at events like popup bars, holiday bazaars, and more!



Downtown Holiday Market

Centered at 8th and F St., DC
Time: Friday-Sunday, 12-8pm
Cost: FREE

One of the most extensive holiday markets in the region, with rows of tents showcasing vendors’ art, clothing, handmade soaps and jewelry, and gourmet edibles. Be sure to check out concierge favorite, Capital Candy Jar. Delicious street food and local coffee are for sale, and there are various live musical performances most afternoons.


Miracle on 7th St Pop-Up Bar

Cool down at this cocktail winter wonderland in one of DC’s hottest neighborhoods, Shaw. Pro tip: arrive EARLY and dress warm, this is one of the most popular bars in the city! The breathtaking decorations alone are worth the wait, but the inspired menu will surely delight.


CityCenterDC Holiday Tree Lighting

Eye St. between 9th and 11t h St., DC
Time: Saturday, 6pm
Cost: FREE

Bring the whole family to watch the annual 75-foot tree light up the night, and stroll under the twinkling signature Palmer Alley overhead lighting. Enjoy festive caroling, wandering street performers, and your choice of a number of gourmet restaurants and snack bars for dinner, treats, and warm beverages.



Bazaart Holiday Art Market

American Visionary Art Museum

Time: Friday, 12-6pm; Saturday, 10am-6pm

If you’re hosting a holiday party, come out to get your next piece of art to be the talk of your party! Over 40 regional artists and craftspeople are uniting for this fun event. They have created seasonal pieces to be your next great gift- or keep it for yourself!


Festival of Trees

Maryland State Fairgrounds

Time: Friday and Saturday, 10am-9pm; Sunday, 10am-6pm

Cost: $15 for Adults, $10 for Seniors, $7 for Kids

Step back in time as you watch reenactors create a colonial Christmas. Wine tastings, beer samples, and food from local restaurants are all included.



Zion Church of the City of Baltimore

400 E Lexington St., Baltimore

Time: Saturday, 10am-4pm

Cost: $2

This family fun affair allows you to see over 700 holiday trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses and more! Princess visits, boutique shopping and Santa will also be present. Proceeds go to the children of Kennedy Krieger.



Reston Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting and Sing Along

Reston Town Center

11900 Market St., Reston
Time: Friday, 11am-10pm

Cost: FREE

Join the Reston Town Center for its 27th annual Holiday Parade.  Kids will be wowed by the Macy’s-style balloons, musicians, dancers and more.  This one-hour, half-mile parade will also star Mr. & Mrs. Clause.  After the parade, bring the kids to enjoy visits to Mr. & Mrs. Clause, mini-train rides, Fountain Square Tree Lighting, sing-a-longs at 6 pm and horse-drawn carriage rides until 10pm.


Thanksgiving Craft Beer and Wine Festival

Tysons Biergarten

Cost: $20 online, $30 at the door

Local breweries and wineries have put together their top 50+ selections for this Saturday’s Thanksgiving Craft Beer and Wine Festival.  This kid and dog friendly event will include live music, friendly competitions, prizes and more.


The Fairfax Ballet Company presents The Nutcracker
Joan C. Bedinger Auditorium – W.T. Woodson High School

Experience the unforgettable favorite ballet in a winter wonder land as the Fairfax Ballet Company members, students from the Russell School of Ballet and professional guest artists take you on a magical journey with twirling candy canes and dancing snowflakes.  Clara and her Nutcracker prince will also showcase a suspenseful battle with toy soldiers and mischievous mice.
