Pick Your Own

Apple and pumpkin picking are some of our favorite fall activities here at Charm City Concierge! They lead to apple pie, apple cider, roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin carving! Our concierge team recommends checking out these local farms and orchards around the area.

Lohr’s Orchard

A Harford County family tradition, Lohr’s Orchard is a family owned and operated farm. You are in for a real treat with their pick your own style of fruits and veggies offered throughout the year.

Pumpkin Village Fall Fest

Hay rides, Giant hill slides, Moon bounces, Pony rides, Camel rides, Petting zoo, Exotic animals (like Lemurs, Zebras, African Serval Cats, Giant Aldabra Tortoises & more!), Pedal carts, Pumpkin patch, and Live entertainment on weekends. Layng’s Farm Market will also be open daily selling pumpkins, gourds, mums and seasonal treats!

Stribling Orchard

Six generations of farmers cultivate the land and with such variety its hard not to fall in love with all that Stribling has to offer. Apples are available mid-August through early November. Starting in September they also offer fresh cider and pre-picked pumpkins.

Great Country Farms
18780 Foggy Bottom Rd, Bluemont, VA (less than an hour from DC)
Open daily 9am-5pm
Only at Great Country Farm can you pick your own pumpkins and apples, fire pumpkins from a cannon, enjoy cider donuts, get lost in a corn maze, visit with the pumpkin princess, cheer for your favorite swine at the infamous Oinkintucky Derby, and watch P-Rex, the pumpkin munching dinosaur.

Fun on the Farm

Once you’ve collected your apples and pumpkin, it’s time to play on the farm! Corn mazes and hayrides are great for family outings, date night or a day out with friends. Many local farms offer these and other fun fall activities to keep you entertained all season long.

2015 Amazing Farm Fun Fall Festival
Ticonderoga Farms – 26469 Ticonderoga Rd., Chantilly, VA
Open every day from September 19th to November 8th, 9am-6pm
Price: Weekdays, $9.95 | Weekends & Columbus Day, $16.95
Fun for the whole family! Petting zoo, hayrides, willow maze, entertainment, food vendors, live music, antique farm equipment, fire pit and s’mores roasting, and more. Check the event’s Facebook page for a list of additional entertainment, specialty food vendors and music each weekend.

Boo at the Zoo

It’s hard to find a farm in the District but Boo at the Zoo is an annual kid-friendly favorite with treat stations, decorated trails, animal demonstrations, entertainment stage, hay maze and scarecrow field.

Haunted Happenings

It wouldn’t be fall without a little bit of frightening fun! Whether you’re part of the trick-or-treating crowd or need some adults-only time, there is a lot going on in our area to celebrate Halloween.

Halloween Pub Crawl
Various locations all over Fells Point
This October, the action starts at The Point In Fells bar. From there, you’ll get your map, your drinking cup, and your certified Baltimore Pub Crawls wristband which entitles you to take advantage of all the drink specials and admission into all of the participating venues for free along with drink specials!

Clarendon Ballroom Annual Halloween Bash
Clarendon Ballroom – 3185 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA
Friday, October 30th from 5pm-2am
Price: Cover charge $10-$20 depending on crowd
Come dressed in costume and party the night away! Clarendon Ballroom is the perfect venue for Halloween fun with their 3,000 square feet of dance space and 80 foot bar. Get there before 9pm to enter the best costume contest and be in the running to win the $500 prize.

Halloween Graveyard Jam
Hard Rock Café – 999 W St. NW, Washington, DC
October 31 at 9pm
Every year the Graveyard Jam is biggest Halloween party in DC where young professionals and future leaders get dressed up in the most unique, unusual, funniest and craziest costumes! This year, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolfman take on rock ‘n’ roll legends at one of the most popular venues throughout the world.

Frightening Fun

For those interested in something a little spookier, there are many local amusement parks and attractions that will have you running and screaming. Here are a few of our top choices:

Fright Fest

There is plenty of family fun to be had during Thrills By Day from noon until 6pm each weekend. Activities include trick-or-treating, hay rides, dance parties, monster characters and more. After 6pm, Six Flags is no place for kids as it transforms into Frights By Night! Guests will enjoy haunted attractions, roller coasters in the dark and lots of magic until the park closes.

Bush Gardens Howl-O-Scream

Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from September 25th – November 1st
Terror begins at 6pm until Park Close

Explore haunted houses, take in darkly entertaining shows, travel through the Wendigo Woods and five Terror-tories, and more if you are courageous enough to enter the park after dark! Be aware that the park becomes a seriously scary place at 6pm and may not be suitable for young children.
